The main event on our calendar takes place in St Petersburg every autumn. It’s a festival of socio-documentary and fiction films, shows and performances, all dedicated to the issue of discrimination against women. Over the festival’s lifetime, more than 40 women’s activist groups have taken part. They came from Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Tolyatti, Vladivostok, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Pskov, and Ufa (Russia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Barysaw (Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) and Helsinki (Finland). In addition, we run an educational seminar each spring for feminist groups who want to participate in the festival. The seminar includes workshops led by women directors, artists and performance artists. They talk about working with film/performance formats in a public space, and how to make sure that the issues that are addressed resonate with the audience.
